A Message from Chuck: Looking Beneath the Surface
Have you ever spent a Saturday morning scrubbing the outside of your house—polishing the windows, painting the shutters, and making sure the curb appeal is absolutely perfect—while the inside is a cluttered, chaotic mess? We can be very good at “curb appeal” in our spiritual lives, can’t we? We learn the right vocabulary, we show up at the right times, and we make sure the external image is polished and professional. But friend, God isn’t looking at the shutters. He’s looking through the windows, right into the hallway of your soul.
In this video, we are looking at a fundamental truth that Jesus emphasized over and over again: It’s a Heart Issue.
The Pharisees were the masters of the external. They had the rules down to a science. But Jesus called them “whitewashed tombs”—beautiful on the outside, but full of something else entirely on the inside. I want to help you move past the “performance” of religion and get down to the “pulse” of a real relationship with God. We’ll explore:
- The Source of the Symptoms: Why our external struggles—whether it’s anger, pride, or secret sin—are almost always symptoms of a deeper “heart condition.”
- The Deception of Behavior Modification: Why trying to “be better” through willpower is like putting a band-aid on a broken bone.
- The Divine Heart Surgeon: How to invite the Holy Spirit to perform the deep, restorative work that only He can do, changing us from the inside out.
God isn’t interested in your “scorecard”; He’s interested in your heart. Let’s learn how to stop focusing on the symptoms and start dealing with the source.
