A Message from Chuck: Equipping Your Spiritual Toolkit

Imagine for a moment that you decided to build a high-quality piece of furniture, but the only tool you had in your garage was a rusty screwdriver. You might get the job done eventually, but it wouldn’t be very efficient, and the results probably wouldn’t be what you hoped for. To do the job right, you need the right tools—a saw, a level, a plane, and a solid workbench. Well, friend, the same is true when it comes to studying the Word of God.

In this video, we are looking at the craftsman’s side of faith: How to Use Bible Study Tools.

Many people want to go deeper into the Scriptures, but they feel stuck because they don’t know how to use a concordance, a commentary, or a Bible atlas. They want to see the “original colors” of the text, but they don’t have the brushes. I want to help you take the mystery out of the process. We’ll explore:

  • The Apprentice’s Essentials: Identifying the three or four basic tools every believer should have on their desk (or their tablet) to unlock the meaning of the text.
  • Why Context is King: How tools like Bible dictionaries and maps help us step out of our modern world and into the world of the biblical authors.
  • The Goal of the Toolkit: Remembering that we don’t use tools just to become “smarter” Christians, but to become more obedient ones.

You don’t need a seminary degree to be a serious student of the Bible. You just need a willing heart and a few good tools to help you dig for the gold. Let’s look at how to get started.

Insight for Living Broadcast

I found Insight for Living through our Bible study leader back in 1985, and this ministry has helped me grow in my faith as a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. Chuck's messages from the Bible have many a time kept me afloat and paddling toward the goal in this Christian race.
