Vision 195 Special Broadcast Day

Insight for Living Ministries is committed to excellence in following Jesus’ Great Commission to “go and make disciples of all the nations.” We will broaden our borders with the message of God’s majesty, the authenticity of His Word, and the power of the cross, woven into a tapestry of God’s amazing grace, in all 195 countries of our world. This will be accomplished by modeling the life of Christ and mentoring disciples through the new Charles R. Swindoll Search the Scriptures Training Centers, our daily broadcasts, translations of our broadcasts and published resources, the latest technology, and international pastoral internships. Vision 195 is the mission that God has given us for all generations.

Simple Instructions on Serious Issues

There’s no more telltale sign of a society’s moral erosion than the breakdown of integrity. In domestic settings, this breakdown reveals itself most dramatically in marital infidelity. In the personal lives of individuals, it evidences itself most clearly in verbal dishonesty. When partners cheat on each other . . . when people lie to one another, a community’s moral fiber weakens and quickly deteriorates. Such things should not characterize those who claim to belong to Christ. In His greatest of sermons, Jesus addressed both these issues. As He did, He went deeper than the letter of the Law. He made it clear that marriage requires absolute faithfulness, and personal relationships require absolute truthfulness.

In Defense of Monogamy

The air today is filled with the shrill cry of “my rights.” In the center ring of this loud arena is the home—more specifically, the marriage bond. Mate-swapping, group marriages, and living together without official marriage commitments are realities no longer carried out under the hush-hush blanket of shame and disgrace. Some couples are even accepting practices that just a couple of decades ago were taboo, introducing infidelity and pornography into the marriage bed. In all these alternative lifestyles, the Bible is either ignored altogether or rationalized to extremes. Is monogamy an outdated concept? In this message, we look at what the Bible says about the value of a one-spouse-only relationship so that we might uphold and defend God’s design.

The Gathering Storm

The choice to follow Jesus is costly. It is a choice to die to yourself and live for Him. It’s a choice to make all other allegiances secondary to serving Him. It is a choice to make your relationship with Him your highest priority.

The gospels record the cost of following Jesus. His disciples soon understood that following Him meant going all in.

Let Pastor Chuck Swindoll’s scriptural takeaways help prepare your heart for the journey ahead. Remain committed to Jesus even when the winds of opposition test your faith.

A Relationship, a Courtship, . . . a Miracle

Let’s face it; life is messy. No one is exempt. Every life is marred by flaws, complications, inadequacies, failures, disappointments, and injustices. And it takes grace to love someone through the difficulties in his or her life. Mary, the mother of Jesus, never expected her life to become so complicated. Nevertheless, Joseph loved her and willingly allowed her difficulties to become his own. And when God became a human being in the person of Jesus Christ, He willingly accepted the complications and afflictions that accompany life in a fallen world—a world distorted by the awful effects of sin. His motivation? Love.

Jesus’ Magnificent Obsession

Everything Jesus did. Everyone He interacted with. All of it led to His death on the cross for our sins. Sacrificing Himself to save us was the driving, passionate focus of Jesus’ life.

Teaching from Matthew 16:21–26, Pastor Chuck Swindoll explains how Jesus faithfully obeyed the will of the Father, even to the point of dying for those He loved.

Follow Christ’s example and submit to the love of the Father. Listen in as Pastor Chuck urges each of us to turn from our selfish ways, take up our cross, and follow Jesus.

Try Standing in Joseph’s Sandals

From just a brief appearance in a few verses that cover the beginning of Jesus’ life, we learn a great deal about the man, Joseph, who would raise heaven’s Son as his own.

Joseph exuded humility and faith as he fully obeyed God’s leading even though he never fully understood it.

Develop a new appreciation for Mary’s husband, her greatest advocate, and learn how to follow God in difficult circumstances.

Profile of a Prophet

The Old Testament prophets were dynamic figures, who continue to speak to our age with an undeniable relevance. It is doubtful that any other group of men in all literature presents a more impressive or colorful picture of courage, godliness, or perception. They were men who knew God and trusted Him against insuperable odds. Sometimes ignored and other times hated, mocked, and attacked, they stood firm (usually all alone) against the most imposing and influential people of their times. Through them, however, God warned and rebuked and announced certain judgment, most of which was passed off as extreme fanaticism. But to this day, the prophets’ messages throb with biting realism. Their voices are silent, but their words live on.

Insight for Living Broadcast

I looked you all up on Spotify and clicked on the Insight for Living link. It hit me like a brick in the face; the title of the very top episode was "Dealing with Discouragement." I listened to the episode on my drive home. I 100% believe it was God speaking to me and bringing me back from a life in darkness. I felt like it was God telling me, "This is the path and plan I have for you so keep going." —R. Y. from Georgia
