EVER FEEL WORN OUT BY the spinning of your wheels in the muck of sin? Are you fatigued from fighting the battle against your dark nature? Do you sometimes feel like throwing up your hands and surrendering to the constant barrage of spiritual attacks that attempt to lure you away from a life of holiness and devotion?
We’ve all been there! It’s part of our human experience. That’s why it’s so unbelievably satisfying to know that God understood that too . . . in fact, it’s what compelled Him to demonstrate His love toward us and offer the sacrifice of His Son. It was the ultimate act of kindness!
In that all-out rebellion of His goodness, God’s redeeming love was made known. Read these words carefully, reflectively:
You may think you can condemn such people, but you are just as bad, and you have no excuse! When you say they are wicked and should be punished, you are condemning yourself, for you who judge others do these very same things. And we know that God, in his justice, will punish anyone who does such things [sin]. Since you judge others for doing these things, why do you think you can avoid God’s judgment when you do the same things? Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?
ROMANS 2:1–4
What does the Lord need to do to get you to turn away from that sin that has you in its grip? Stop and think for a moment how He is blessing you and caring for your needs, despite your stubborn determination to dishonor Him. Don’t you think it’s time to respond in repentance? Turn to Him in full repentance. Confess your sin; and feel the restorative flow of His kindness and grace. Don’t wait another minute—do that now!
