A Worthy Walk

Overview:

Ephesians 4:1-6

Many of Paul’s letters begin with doctrinal truths, instructing readers in basic Christian beliefs. Then, after the reader has a clearer understanding of faith in Christ, the second half of the letter deals explicitly with how to live out the Christian faith in the world. The two sections are often joined by a single verse. These “hinge” verses can be clearly seen in Romans (12:1), Galatians (5:1), and Colossians (3:1). The same is true for Ephesians, where in 4:1 we see the beginning of a highly practical section, one that teaches believers how to apply the great truths of God’s sovereignty and salvation in day-to-day life.

Message Summary:

In the book of Ephesians, the Apostle Paul spends three chapters building a massive foundation of doctrinal truth before ever giving a single command on how to live. In this pivotal message from the Becoming a People of Grace series, Pastor Chuck Swindoll explores the “hinge verse” of the letter—Ephesians 4:1—where doctrine meets duty. The summons is clear: every believer is called to “walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called.”

This overview details the essential characteristics of a worthy walk and the foundational unities that bind the Church together. Pastor Chuck emphasizes that a life of grace is not just about what we believe, but about how that belief translates into humility, gentleness, and a diligent effort to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Insight for Living Broadcast

I looked you all up on Spotify and clicked on the Insight for Living link. It hit me like a brick in the face; the title of the very top episode was "Dealing with Discouragement." I listened to the episode on my drive home. I 100% believe it was God speaking to me and bringing me back from a life in darkness. I felt like it was God telling me, "This is the path and plan I have for you so keep going." —R. Y. from Georgia
