Overview:

Ephesians 5:1-7

Belief and behavior always go hand in hand—in that order. What we do is always based on what we believe . . . about God, about ourselves, about others. However, some will suggest that what we do is not as important as what we believe. Others will suggest that belief is not as important as action. But belief without deeds is hypocrisy, while action without beliefs ends in confusion. After discussing right belief in the first half of the book, Paul shifted his focus to action, calling Christians to pure living.

Message Summary:

In this compelling message from the Becoming a People of Grace series, Pastor Chuck Swindoll addresses the essential connection between what a believer believes and how they behave. Moving into the practical section of Ephesians, specifically 5:1–7, the teaching highlights that while grace is a free gift, it is also a powerful catalyst for a transformed life. Paul’s “stirring summons” is a call to move beyond religious hypocrisy into a life of genuine, visible purity.

This overview focuses on the primary motivation for pure living: the imitation of God. By looking at the sacrificial love of Christ as our standard, Pastor Chuck provides a sobering yet encouraging look at how believers can navigate a world filled with moral compromise while maintaining a heart and life that honors the Lord.

Insight for Living Broadcast

Whenever I'm going through something, your sermons/talks give me such strength to make it through the day. I listen most every day at work (with my headphones on) but I notice that it helps me stay focused and calm hearing you speaking the words that God wants me to hear for that moment in time. So again, thank you! —A.R. from Massachusetts
