John 21:1–22
We can learn a lot about our relationship with God by studying the life of Peter. From his insightful affirmation of Jesus as the Son of God to receiving a sharp rebuke (Matthew 16:13-23), from his risky defense of Jesus in the garden to cowering in the courtyard (John 18:10, 17, 25-27), Peter’s journey with Jesus represents a study in contradictions. But, after Jesus’s death and resurrection, a seaside reunion with the risen Lord taught Peter that being a disciple requires one primary qualification: a willingness to follow.
