A Message from Chuck: The Dangerous Freedom of God’s Favor
Have you ever heard someone argue against the message of grace by saying, “Now hold on, Chuck. If you tell people they are totally forgiven—past, present, and future—and that God’s love isn’t based on their performance, aren’t you just giving them a ‘license to sin’? Aren’t you making it too easy for them to just do whatever they want?” It’s a fair question, and it’s one that the legalists have been asking since the days of the Apostle Paul. They’re worried that grace is “unsafe.”
And friend, I have to be honest with you: they’re right. Grace is risky. In fact, it’s the greatest risk God ever took.
In this video, we are asking a sobering question: Is Grace Risk-Free? When God decided to save us by His unmerited favor rather than our own efforts, He knew some would take advantage of it. He knew some would use “liberty” as a cloak for “license.” But He gave it anyway. Why? Because grace is the only thing powerful enough to actually change a human heart. We’ll explore:
- The Fear of the Legalist: Why we are so prone to wanting rules and fences rather than the wide-open spaces of God’s favor.
- The Heart of the Risk-Taker: Understanding that God’s grace isn’t a “pass” to live selfishly, but the power to live selflessly for the first time.
- Liberty vs. License: Why the person who truly understands grace doesn’t want to sin more, but wants to please the Father more.
Grace isn’t “safe,” but it is the only way to be truly free. Let’s learn how to stop living in the fear of “what if” and start living in the joy of “what is”—a child of God, kept by His scandalous grace.
