Chuck Swindoll will be away from Stonebriar Community Church from June 30-September 1, and the pulpit will be filled by five different guest speakers during that time. Each man is highly gifted in teaching and, as Chuck told his congregation, “You’re in for some great preaching!” You can read each of their brief biographies below.

Summer 2019 Pulpit Guests

Malcom Gill

Dr. Malcolm Gill | June 30 & July 7

Malcolm is married to Tamara, and they have three lively children. Ordained at Stonebriar Community Church, Malcolm currently serves as a lecturer in Greek, New Testament, and preaching at Sydney Missionary & Bible College in Sydney, Australia. Malcolm is a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary where he also taught in the pastoral ministries department. Dr. Gill has travelled extensively and ministered throughout North, South, and Central America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. He enjoys mangos, cricket, and the beach. He loves telling people about Jesus and training others to do the same.

Bill Butterworth

Rev. Bill Butterworth | July 14 & 21

Bill holds a bachelor’s degree from Florida Bible College and masters’ degrees from both Dallas Theological Seminary and Florida Atlantic University. He was on the faculty of Florida Bible College for eight years, and he was director of counseling ministries at Insight for Living for seven years. As a speaker, he has addressed Disney, Microsoft, American Express, Ford Motor Company, 27 NFL teams, 14 MLB teams, and 6 NBA teams. He has written close to two dozen books and serves on the board of directors for Insight for Living and Mount Hermon Conference Center.

Dr. Jonathan Murphy

Dr. Jonathan Murphy | July 28 & August 4

Jonathan is a professor and chair of the pastoral ministries department at Dallas Theological Seminary. He was born in Belfast (Northern Ireland), raised in the Canary Islands (Spain), and educated in Northern Ireland, Edinburgh (Scotland), and Dallas. Such cross-cultural exposure has nurtured a diverse range of interests all the way from rugby to history. Jonathan pastored in Northern Ireland before joining DTS, and he is a member of the preaching team at Christ Chapel Bible Church in Fort Worth. Jonathan and his wife, Sarah Jane, have four children and reside in Grapevine.

Dr. Abraham Kuruvilla

Dr. Abraham Kuruvilla | August 11 & 18

Abe is senior research professor of preaching and pastoral ministries at Dallas Theological Seminary. He is also a medical doctor and currently practices in the realm of his specialty, dermatology. Abe earned his M.D. at the University of Kerala in India (1987) and his Ph.D. from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston (1993). He then received his Th.M. from Dallas Theological Seminary (2002) and his second Ph.D. from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland (2007).

Dr. Steve Farrar

Dr. Steve Farrar | August 25 & September 1

Steve has remained a faithful friend and an active part of our church since its inception. He ministers to our men on a weekly basis throughout the fall, winter, and spring. Additionally, Steve speaks to men all over the country about the importance of their roles and responsibilities as men, husbands, and fathers. He is the founder of Men’s Leadership Ministry and the author of several books. He earned his Th.M. at Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon, and his D.Min. at Dallas Theological Seminary.
