Position Summary

The Human Resources generalist helps Insight for Living Ministries (IFLM) provide a great employee experience in all Human Resources programs. Promoting and supporting the mission of IFLM and Vision 195, the generalist administers the ministry’s recruiting and candidate experience process, ensuring the organization hires top-tier candidates for each functional unit. Likewise, the generalist administers IFLM’s benefit programs, ensuring program quality and plan simplicity for participants. The generalist also administers IFLM’s biweekly payroll with accuracy and timeliness and assists with compensation analysis, wellness programs, and other departmental projects.

As a representative of the ministry and Human Resources department, the Human Resources generalist is relational, detail-oriented, and an independent self-starter who serves with the utmost grace, care, and professionalism. This position helps ensure that staff are provided a great place to work and candidates receive an excellent experience when engaging the ministry.

Core Job Functions

Recruiting and Onboarding (20%)

  • Determines necessary position qualifications with hiring manager
  • Drafts job postings
  • Places positions on appropriate and relevant networks
  • Conducts phone interviews
  • Conducts in-person interviews
  • Ensures all positions receive corresponding pre-employment tests
  • Conducts background and reference checks
  • Debriefs and recommends top candidates to hiring manager
  • Coordinates new hire onboarding processes
  • Researches and suggests new talent pools
  • Continually suggests process updates to maintain competitive recruiting edge
  • Ensures overall candidate experience is executed with the utmost professionalism

Benefits Administration (25%)

  • Acts as primary benefit liaison between IFLM employees and benefit vendors
  • Ensures benefit portals are up-to-date with necessary changes and information is correctly entered into HRIS/payroll system
  • Audits and reconciles benefit bills
  • Manages the IFLM wellness program
  • Conducts new hire benefit open enrollments
  • Spearheads and leads IFLM benefit enrollment fair
  • Sends annual benefit notices as required by law
  • Files STD, LTD, Life, and Worker’s Compensation claims
  • Oversees FMLA compliance
  • Serves as HIPAA privacy official
  • Assists Vice President of Human Resources in benefit plan renewal, plan structures, and Benefit Plan Committee meetings
  • Completes annual 1095-C documents

Payroll Management (20%)

  • Oversees biweekly payroll processing, ensuring its timely completion and processing
  • Ensures all payroll entries and changes are made accurately with minimal errors
  • Researches and provides solutions to payroll-related issues
  • Stays current on all payroll laws, HRIS/payroll system changes, and creative ways to better leverage system

Human Resources Administration (20%)

  • Provides compensation and payroll analysis
  • Manages HRIS/payroll system, ensuring all documents and processes are up-to-date
  • Oversees performance management process and completion
  • Ensures department tracking completion of applicable laws, including FMLA, COBRA, and third-party sick pay, as well as other Human Resources processes
  • Assists with Human Resources budget and reconciliations
  • Updates organizational charts
  • Assists with ongoing department filing
  • Helps with special projects as assigned

Professional Development (5%)

  • Commits to the challenges of growth and development according to the Professional Development Plan
  • Pursues the designated knowledge and/or experience with a positive attitude
  • Completes assigned tasks with excellence and in a timely manner

Position Specifications

Job Qualifications

  • Three to five years’ (3–5) or more direct Human Resources generalist experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or requisite job-related experience without degree
  • PHR and/or SHRM-CP preferred
  • Solid familiarity with Human Resources functional best practices
  • Professional interpersonal skills with a high level of emotional intelligence
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Humility, a high level of flexibility, a positive attitude, and the ability to listen and work well with others
  • Strong customer service orientation and demeanor
  • Ability to juggle several complex projects, multitask, and meet deadlines
  • High attention to details with outstanding organizational skills
  • Strong ability to perform payroll and compensation analysis and calculations using Microsoft Excel
  • An ability to anticipate and prioritize work with minimal direction
  • An understanding of and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook

This is a full-time, onsite position.
