Position Summary

The transcriber promotes and supports the mission of IFLM by transcribing audio recordings of Chuck Swindoll’s messages, ensuring each transcription meets ministry standards of excellence. This individual transcribes for clarity, form, style, and grammar and also proofs, corrects, and revises transcripts in preparation for broadcast editing. A motivated self-starter, the transcriber performs with skill and excellence under tight deadlines. This individual confirms all quoted Scripture verses are accurate and align with Chuck Swindoll’s intent. The transcriber may also alert leadership to any factual concerns regarding doctrine, culture, or society as appropriate. After transcribing a message, the transcriber ensures all edits are approved, all transcribing schedules are met, notebooks are arranged accurately, and materials are assembled for archiving. As a member of the Content Services Department, the transcriber has a responsibility to bear the fruit of the Spirit and to accurately express the ministry’s beliefs and values in all interactions with constituents, staff members, and vendors.

Core Job Functions

Audio Recording Transcriptions

  • Helps accurately transcribe Chuck Swindoll’s two weekly sermons and other various audio recordings, documenting in detail each message’s form, clarity, style, and grammar
  • Proofreads, corrects, and revises transcripts in preparation for manager approval and broadcast editing
  • Ensures previously aired series transcripts are updated to current standards and available for review and editing by the President and CEO
  • Assists Content Services manager in assembling leadership’s notebooks when needed
  • Provides assistance on other assignments related to transcription as requested

Message Processing for Broadcast and International Ministries

  • Assists manager to ensure audio broadcast edits are approved and are communicated to President and CEO
  • Compiles, for IFLM International Ministries use, all transcript-related material, including a cover sheet, transcriber’s notes, transcript, endnotes, rights and permissions document, and STS study document for each message

Assembly of Materials for Archival Purposes

  • Compiles transcripts, transcript historical documentation, and sermon notes after each series receives final approval
  • Maintains an awareness of archival material for easy access and availability

Position Specifications

Job Qualifications

  • Passion for IFLM’s teaching, mission, and vision
  • Two-to-three years’ transcription experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in English preferred
  • Excellent grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills
  • High attention to details and excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work steadily to meet deadlines
  • Humility, a high level of flexibility, a positive attitude, and the ability to work well with others
  • Ability to accurately type 60+ words per minute for long periods of time Familiarity with MS Office suite

This is a full-time position—40 hours per week.
