Position Summary

The Mandarin Ministry Assistant is a member of the Insight for Living Ministries (IFLM) team whose goal is to participate in and learn the philosophy, content, and culture of the ministry. Working under the direction of the executive vice president of International Ministries, this individual contributes in ways that specifically add value to IFLM’s outreach to Mandarin-speaking people.

The Mandarin Ministry Assistant theologically reviews and edits IFLM materials translated from English into Mandarin and participates in various other ministry processes to assist the International Ministries Department and to grow as a believer actively pursuing the Great Commission. As a member of the International Ministries Department, the intern has a responsibility to bear the fruit of the Spirit and to accurately express the ministry’s beliefs and values in all interactions with constituents, staff members, and vendors.

Core Job Functions


  • Translates various materials to be utilized by IFLM’s Mandarin ministry, including daily devotionals, sermons, books, and Web site content

Theological Editing

  • Verifies theological accuracy of all transcripts, scripts, and other content translated into Mandarin to ensure alignment with IFLM’s Statement of Faith and theological consistency with the original, intended meaning

Mandarin Strategy Development

  • Assists the executive vice president of International Ministries, as well as additional stakeholders, in the development and implementation of IFLM’s strategy to enlarge and deepen the Mandarin ministry

Special Projects

  • Completes all assigned tasks, duties, and responsibilities related to the successful outcome of various International projects


  • Meets regularly with the executive vice president of International Ministries and other key leaders of the Mandarin ministry

Professional Development

  • Commits to the challenges of growth and development according to the Professional Development Plan
  • Pursues the designated knowledge and/or experience with a positive attitude
  • Completes assigned tasks with excellence and in a timely manner

Position Specifications

Job Qualifications

  • Regular attendance at Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco, Texas
  • Current enrollment at Dallas Theological Seminary as a master’s or doctoral student
  • Fluency in Mandarin and English with a cultural acclimation for Mandarin speakers
  • Excellent translation, editing, proofreading, revising, and writing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills
  • Humility, a high level of flexibility, a positive attitude, and the ability to work well with others
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Word and Outlook

This is a part-time position—up to 20 hours per week.
